Schaffhausen - a dynamic business location at the strategic heart of Europe, with excellent transport links to European destinations and the rest of the world. You can be in Germany in 10 minutes, at Zurich International Airport in 30 minutes and in downtown Zurich in just 40 minutes.

There are direct, daily connections from Zurich International Airport to almost every business metropolis around the world. And it takes just 30 minutes by car to get to the airport. By train, the direct connection means you’ll be in the terminal in around 45 minutes.

Road network and Public transport

The A4 highway connects Schaffhausen with Winterthur, St. Gallen and Zurich. It’s just 10 minutes from Schaffhausen city center to the German motorway, with Stuttgart 90 minutes away by car and only three hours to Munich.

Schaffhausen is well served by public transport. The rail journey to Zurich takes less than 40 minutes; to Basel, it’s 60 minutes. In Zurich and Schaffhausen, you will find direct connections to Europe’s major cities. Locally, there is an excellent rail system across the region and an extensive bus network to ensure a smooth and timely arrival to your destination.

At the end of the 1990s, a spirit of optimism could be felt throughout the canton. After years of crisis, the WERS project had provided initial impetus with location development measures such as business promotion. Now it was time to convince new companies of Schaffhausen's potential.

Thanks to an active location policy, the story took a different course. Today, Schaffhausen can look back on an economic success story.

He received the "Area for Makers Ambassador" Award 2024 at the Business Leader Event in recognition of his current and future commitment to Schaffhausen’s economy.
