Unwind & unplug

Quiet, please!

Constantly on the go at work? All the more important to take some time for yourself offline. Schaffhausen brings you a myriad of opportunities, a world away from apps, pings and scrolling. Gaze at the landscape, follow the current of the Rhine, or dive into evening yoga at the Rhybadi.

What's on your "To-don't" list today?

There's a lot going on in Schaffhausen - but it's also advisable to take a break from time to time. Of course, that's easier done in Schaffhausen than in Times Square or Shanghai. Perhaps that's why so many Expats feel at home here.

On the Rhein

No rush hour, no hunt for a parking place. No "I still have to..."

Instead: an apéro on the Salzstadel wall, the Old Town alleyways in the evening light, a panorama of the scenic Klettgau region. Just outside, apple orchards, vineyards, and the Randen hills with views all the way to Hegau. And the Rhine is always murmuring in the background.

Enjoy and discover!

At home in Schaffhausen

In the green

Fun fact: For every Schaffhausen resident, there's about 23 square meters of green space at their disposal - if you include parks, playgrounds, and sports fields. Even having your own garden is an option here. This is a great thing - after all, relaxation starts at home.

Vitamin O(utside)

About 1,000 hours of sunshine a year - Schaffhausen delivers. And if you want to make the most out of winter as well, trying climbing the 225 steps up the Hagenturm viewing tower - one of the highest points in the region. The sun smiles above the fog, and often those who've made it to the top do too.

Cascades

At peak times, over a million liters of water thunders down the Rhine Falls each second. If that's hard to imagine, take a look yourself. There's many reasons to visit Schaffhausen besides the presence of Europe's biggest waterfall, but the Rhine Falls is a good one.

Relax like a "maker"

Wildlife and nature photography is my hobby and passion. When I can watch a family of beavers on the Rhine, when the kingfisher flies past, the swan swims by, and I listen to the beautiful sounds of nature, I can fully relax and enjoy myself.
