As an element in the promotion of our locality, it is an important instrument in advancing our welfare and pursues the objective of improving conditions for business and for our citizens.
Economic promotion is partly about promoting a location, activity which raises awareness of the strengths of our region but is also concerned with developing the location, the work of ensuring the service offered by the public sector is as attractive as possible. The greatest chance of success results from location development and location marketing operating hand in hand.
Economic promotion takes place within a networked system and fulfils the economic, social and ecological criteria for sustainable development which respects climate change goals in a balanced manner. Economic promotion aims to satisfy the needs of the present day, whilst ensuring the next generation inherits an intact environment in which it can act autonomously to satisfy its own needs.
Economic promotion activity benefits the existing business community as well as in-bound businesses establishing a presence here and the existing population as well as new residents moving to the locality.

Reflecting its strong commitment to its role as a service provider, the Economic Promotion Team always seeks «Win-Win» solutions – on the one hand for businesses and on the other for the economy as a whole.
Economic promotion is about achieving long-term impact and, as a result, its perspective is shaped by consideration of trends. It uses this insight to actively develop strategies, programmes, projects and measures which reflect the direction of travel. It also contributes innovative ideas and respectful challenge to the table; its activity always governed by its perspective of long-term economic development.
Location development in particular often cuts across many different policy areas and does not simply interact with the implementation and enforcement functions in the Finance and Business departments of local government. Economic promotion often takes place in domains which do not neatly correspond to established policy structures. Its work is much more interdisciplinary in nature and cuts across departmental, geographic and single-issue delineations.
This Code of Conduct applies to all leaders, staff and associates of the Economic Promotion of the Canton of Schaffhausen in all of their work irrespective of geographic or time constraints. The Economic Promotion Team and its staff also expect that partners and appointed persons with whom the Economic Promotion works will respect and observe these Principles and Code of Conduct.
