Foodtech hub "The Forge" supports companies in scaling up their innovations

In the summer, Unilever and Alphorn Ventures announced that they would jointly develop the production site in the Canton of Schaffhausen and open it up to start-ups from the foodtech sector. Under the name "The Forge", an ecosystem with ideal conditions to help young companies develop their innovations will now be created in the upcoming months.


In the future, "The Forge" will be the place where foodtech start-ups help their innovations achieve a breakthrough. In future, young companies will be able to further develop their new products and services on Unilever's production site in the canton of Schaffhausen. The cooperation between Unilever and Alphorn Ventures makes this possible. 

Companies benefit at "The Forge" from:


  • a food production site offering space and equipment for companies who want to validate their production method
  • an ecosystem of various stakeholders from the food sector with a focus on bio-manufacturing.
  • Infrastructure and services on the Unilever site in Schaffhausen. These include product development, laboratories, kitchens, warehouses and logistics.
  • available rental space from 200 to 5000 m2 for in-house production in an existing production environment and access to multiple shared services and stakeholders
  • a unique company location in the heart of Europe at Schaffhausen, Switzerland

 

These offerings from "The Forge" focus on companies in scale-up status with a focus on technologies around new proteins such as precision fermentation or cell-based foods.
